We have enjoyed stopping at Larry's Old Time Trade Days and Antique Mall for a
number of years.
Usually, we are either going or coming from activities in Texas or further west. But this time, we
drove to Winnie specifically to enjoy the treasure hunt at this fun flea market. We were not disappointed.
Winnie, Texas's town plat was filed in 1895 by the Gulf and Inter-state Railway officials. The town was named after Fox Winnie, a railroad contractor who worked for the line. The Winnie and Loan Improvement Company attempted to market small lots of land, but due to poor sales, the company was dissolved in 1911. In 1941 an oilfield was discovered nearby, leading the way for the oil businessman Glenn H. McCarthy to establish a gas plant just east of the town. This development, along with the construction of Interstate 10, would lead to a population growth. The East Chambers County Consolidated School District was established in 1931.
Now, Winnie is home to the largest flea market in South East Texas. Larry's Old Time Trade Days started in Beaumont, Texas and then moved to Winnie in 1991. Larry and Brenda Barron bought the flea market in February of 2005. They were vendors for over 20 years and have extensive experience in accommodating vendors as well as customers.
The average monthly attendance is about 15,000 customers.
This is a well-rounded flea market with antiques and collectibles, arts and crafts, home decor items, outdoor decorator yard art, useable items, plants, boutique Items, including clothing, jewelry, purses, and lots of other surprises. Come hungry and enjoy a wide variety of great food.
There is an RV park available for both customers and vendors for a resonable fee. There is a small parking fee for cars. Free parking for veterans.
