We have traveled to Pearl Harbor many times - each visit is as emotional as the first. Pearl Harbor Historical Site and Welcome Center Just to be able to walk around in so much history is overwhelming. If you are ever in the Honolulu area, please stop and enjoy the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites - to me it is a must stop.

The USS Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, USS Missouri Memorial, USS Oklahoma Memorial and the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor make up the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it serves as a central gathering place for those that want to remember and honor the contributions so many of our service members gave - all gave some, some gave all!

WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which consists of 9 historic locations in Pearl Harbor Historical Site and Welcome Center 3 of the westernmost United States - California, Alaska, and Hawaii. Of these, five are located within the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites.

To those who fought in the war, to those whose lives were affected by the war, their children, grandchildren, and each succeeding generation, Pearl Harbor is a place where people from far-flung corners of the world can come together in peace to honor the memory of the fallen and to celebrate the ultimate triumph of the human spirit.

Today, Pearl Harbor remains an active military base, Headquarters of the Pacific Fleet, and a National Historic Landmark that's home to the unique attractions that are part of Pearl Harbor Historical Site and Welcome Center the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument: from the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that started it all, to the surrender of the Japanese on the deck of the mighty Battleship Missouri, these historic sites together tell the story of the War in the Pacific, commemorating the accomplishments of a previous generation.

Called Pu'uloa, meaning "long hill," or Wai Momi, literally, "water of pearl," by early Hawaiians, Pearl Harbor, so named because of the abundance of pearls once found within its protected waters, is the largest natural harbor in the State of Hawaii and the number one visitor destination on Oahu.

In order to get the best overview of the timeline of World War II, your first stop should be the Pearl Harbor Visitors Center, the gateway to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites. Pearl Pearl Harbor Historical Site and Welcome Center Harbor Visitor Center Museum has two world-class exhibit galleries -- "The Road to War" and "Attack". These galleries document the events leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor and its aftermath through personal memorabilia, dramatic photographs/videos, artifacts of the battle and other exhibits provided by the military survivors of the surprise attack..

In December 2010, the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center received a $56 million upgrade, which included expanding the park to 17 acres. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center receives an average of 4,500 visitors per day and 1.5 million visitors annually.
