The annual Robertsdale, Alabama Honeybee Festival, organized in 1990, is held the first
weekend in October as a fund
raiser for the Robertsdale Fire Department. The event started with a parade featuring classic-old-time tractors.
Dozens of people lined Highway 59 for a piece of the action.
Organizers say they've been doing this festival to get people educated in beekeeping and preserve a vital part of the agricultural heritage and economy. Organizers stressed the importance bees play in the pollination cycle of local crops.
There were a number of booths set up dealing with bee products (honey), as well as, arts and craft.
It was a beautify day for the event and we enjoyed the event tremendously. I also came away knowing more about bees and their importance in the agricultural arena. We got a lot of freebrochures also. I will definitely BEE there again next year!!!
